OnTheList terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and OnTheList (“OnTheList”, “we”, “us”) for using the OnTheList app and website (together, “the service”). By signing in or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use OnTheList. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information and sits alongside these terms.

Who we are

OnTheList is operated by Medland Solutions, the developer account that publishes the app on Google Play and the App Store. You can reach us at support@onthelist.watch.

What OnTheList is

OnTheList is a movie & TV bookmarking app. You can save titles to your watchlist, shortlist and “seen” list, see where they are streaming in your country, connect with friends to compare lists, and be notified when a friend request arrives or, if you turn it on, when a TV show on your lists has a new series on the way. The service is free of charge and has no in-app purchases.

Your account

• Signing in. You sign in with Google or Apple. We do not hold a password for you, so keeping your Google or Apple account secure is what keeps your OnTheList account secure.
• Age. You must be at least 13 years old to use OnTheList.
• One account per person. Keep one account, use it yourself, and do not create accounts for other people or in someone else’s name.
• Your responsibility. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us at support@onthelist.watch.
• Your username. Choose a username that is not offensive, misleading, or someone else’s name or brand. We may change or release a username that breaks these terms.

Acceptable use

Use OnTheList as it is meant to be used: a personal watchlist you can share with friends. You must not:

• scrape, crawl, bulk-download or otherwise access the service with automated tools, or build another product on top of it;
• interfere with the service, probe or bypass its protections, or send it requests from anything other than a genuine copy of the app;
• impersonate another person, or pretend to be connected with someone you are not;
• harass, abuse or spam other people, including with friend requests;
• put anything unlawful in your profile, or use the service to break the law or someone else’s rights;
• use the title information, artwork, ratings or streaming data shown in the app anywhere other than inside OnTheList. It is licensed to us by the providers named below.

Your content

Your lists, the titles you mark as seen and your reactions to them, and your profile (username, display name and photo) are yours, and you keep ownership of them. So that OnTheList can work, you give us permission to store your content, sync it across your devices, and show it to the people you choose to share it with:

• Friends. Your lists are private to you unless you add a friend. When you and another person become friends, you can each see the titles on the other’s lists, along with each other’s display name, photo and username. Either of you can remove the friendship at any time to stop sharing.
• Your profile link and QR code. Anyone you give your complete profile link or QR code to can see your display name, photo and username (never your lists) and send you a friend request. You can reset the link at any time from “My code” in the app.

That permission exists only to run the service. We do not sell your content, use it for advertising, or claim it as our own. You are responsible for what you put in your profile.

Third-party data and services

The title information in OnTheList comes from third parties, and their terms apply to it:

• TMDB: this product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
• JustWatch: streaming availability and deep links are powered by JustWatch.
• MDBList and the Streaming Availability API (Movie of the Night): ratings and streaming links.
• Google Firebase, and Google or Apple sign-in: hosting and sign-in, under their own terms.

Streaming availability varies by country and over time and can be out of date, so check with the streaming service before you pay for anything. Aggregated ratings are for information only.

Availability and changes

OnTheList is a small, free service. We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue the service or parts of it. We will give reasonable notice where we can, but we cannot promise that the service will always be available or free of faults.

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for a material change we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example with a notice in the app. If you keep using OnTheList after a change, the updated terms apply.

Ending your account

• By you. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen (“Delete account”), or by following the steps on our Delete Account & Data page. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
• By us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service or other people, or puts the service at risk. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you at the email address on your account.

What we do not promise

We provide OnTheList as it is. We do our best to keep it working and accurate, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the information in it (including where a title is streaming and how it is rated) is complete or correct.

Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care, but not for loss that is not foreseeable or that arises from something outside our control. Because OnTheList is free, our total liability to you for anything else is limited to the greatest extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, and nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live in another country you may also rely on the consumer protections and courts of that country.
